Announcement from Welcome House
It’s Happening!
It is with great pride we announce that Welcome House has purchased a home!
As you recall, our original mission in 2009 was to create a home for single, pregnant women. Today this mission has shifted. The board re-evaluated the 2009 mission by hosting community meetings, interviews with non-profits, healthcare, social services, law enforcement, etc. We discovered good news: there are more supportive services available for single, pregnant women than there were in 2009!
Through this process, we discovered there is a desperate need for housing for women transitioning from treatment, jail, and other life struggles. Many of these women have children that need their mom, so by helping these women overcome their barriers, we not only help the family unit, but also the whole community.
The transitional home, located in Fergus Falls, will be licensed for up to 10 women who dream of finding stability, self-sufficiency, and sober living. This will be more than a place to live, it will be a place to build healthy friendships, have accountability, stability, and support. It will also be a place of hope and healing where women can learn to put their past behind them and discover and create a new future.
The Lives Our Transitional Housing Will Change
Have you met Jami, yet?
Welcome House exists to help people like her through recovery, healing families and as a first step to becoming a productive citizen and neighbor. Jami has been an inspiration to all of us at the Welcome House. She now serves on the board and is helping us with the development of the new house.
More Than a Place to Live
Many before us worked tirelessly towards the original goal of opening a house for pregnant mothers in need. We are grateful for their passion, love and effort. The many years of their work were invaluable in making this new family-restoring mission a reality.
This Christmas please remember the Welcome House. Your gift will get us one step closer to achieving the goal of opening the home in the Fall of 2022. Together we can help others like Jami who are searching for a way out of the darkness of addiction and dream of creating a new and joyful future.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Merry Christmas!
